Sommelier Travis Gee, a native of Colorado who spent extensive time traveling the world, is now welcoming friends and guests into his new restaurant, Brik on York. Located at 2223 East Colfax Avenue in the Wyman Historic District in a building that used to house a wristwatch repair shop, Brik is a modern wine bar with an old-school vibe. The decor respects the history of the building and allows the old brick walls to be part of the design. Comfortable couches and dining tables invite the guests to linger over a glass or a bottle of wine.
The open kitchen and an authentic wood-fired oven imported from Italy show guests the behind-the-scenes preparation of classic Neapolitan pizza, artisan charcuterie plates, antipasti, seasonal salads, as well as classic dishes like the steak Florentine. The kitchen is led by chef Shoshana Frost who fell in love with making pizza while training alongside a Vera Pizza Napoletana a certified chef.
There is room for live music and this past weekend, during its soft opening, that is just what Brik on York welcomed into its space. McGee's vision has been to create a neighborhood-friendly venue that combines globally inspired food, wine, and entertainment. His wine bar and bistro will be open seven days a week for happy hour and late into the evening, midnight Monday through Thursday, 2 a.m. on weekends, and 10 p.m. on Sundays.
