Slowly but surely, Golden continues to raise the bar on its restaurant scene. The latest addition is breakfast and lunch spot Sassafras American Eatery, which will open a third outpost there, according to BusinessDen. The 5,000 square foot space, located at 1027 Washington Avenue, was previously home to a Mediterranean restaurant and a Mexican cantina. When it opens next month, it will seat 48 people outside on its porch and 90 inside.
A Southern comfort food eatery, Sassafrass launched in Jefferson Park five years ago and the lines on weekends are still going strong. The casual spot expanded to Colfax Avenue in 2014. The upcoming third location overlooks Clear Creek and is set across the street from the Golden Hotel.
While the location will mimic the menu at the other two but, because the space allows it, Grother hopes to reserve an 800-square-foot corner with a separate entrance, as a retail store for jams, sauces and house-made bacon, plus grab-and-go items like beignets and meat pies.
