On Friday, JR's, one of Denver's popular gay bars, released news on their Facebook page that the bar was closed.

"JRs is CLOSED. We have been trying unsuccessfully for a long time to renew our lease. No building = no JRs. Thank you so much for your being a part of our family for the last 11 years!"

Over the weekend, hundreds of JR's fans posted videos and updates on the bar's Facebook page, mourning the close. One fan even posted a YouTube tribute video, nearly 10 minutes in length.

Larry McDonald, the former GM of JR's who opened JR's in 2000 and left the bar in 2009, told The Denver Post that though JRs was closed, bar patrons could still enjoy games like drag queen bingo at X Bar, a gay bar located on Colfax and Washington. Owner Eric Little has not been available to comment on the closing.
