Kim Jordan, co-founder and chief executive of New Belgium Brewing in Ft. Collins, tells The Wall Street Journal that the slated New Belgium East Coast expansion will cut transportation costs and alleviate cramped quarters at the Ft. Collins brewery. According to The Wall Street Journal, Jordan is part of a recent surge of craft brewing powerhouses interested in expanding outside of their regional territories. Though U.S. beer sales are on a decline for the third year in a row, craft brewers are experiencing the fastest growth rate since 1996. New Belgium, which is actively looking for the perfect spot, will invest about $75 million to expand.
