Beatrice The Bear Kidnapped at The Bitter Bar

Welcome to Eater's latest feature, Shit People Steal, in which we ask restaurateurs what items in their restaurant have been (or are frequently) stolen.

Beatrice, a taxidermy bear head wearing a top hat and sunglasses, was kidnapped from The Bitter Bar in Boulder last Friday night. The speakeasy bar that offers small plates and desserts incorporated Beatrice into the decor when the bar reopened after renovations last October. General manager Camren Von Davis says he suspects a guest grabbed Beatrice from above the host stand sometime around last call. The bar has been tweeting since her disappearance, hoping that someone in the twittersphere knows her whereabouts. "I hope I'm out one night and I see her hanging on someone's wall," Von Davis says, recognizing that someone in the service industry could have taken her as a prank. Whether a fellow industry mate took her or a drunk college kid, The Bitter Bar wants Beatrice home as soon as possible, even if there's a ransom.
