Pizzeria Locale To Host A16 Chef Chris Thompson

With celebrity chef visits being all the rage in general and big-sister Frasca Food and Wine leading the charge on such events in particular, Chris Donato at Pizzeria Locale wanted to join the fun. The Pizzeria's manager decided to bring in A 16's own chef Chris Thompson to twirl some dough around and expose pizza fanatics to a new set of tricks. "We started to think about doing a guest pizzaiolo event about six months ago and immediately thought of Shelly Lindgren and A16," Donato said. They have been making great neapolitan-style pizza for years and we thought it would be fun to work with them for a few days in our kitchen and have Chris Thompson, the executive chef, joining us for the two days. We also wanted to make sure that whomever we brought in for our first guest Pizzaiolo event could recreate their style of pizza in our Stefano Ferrara oven," he added.

On Wednesday, November 14 and Thursday, November 15, chef Thompson will prepare a three-course menu inspired by the menu at A-16 that will be available for $18. The menu will include an escarole salad, a bianco and rosso pizza, as well as a chocolate budino dessert. "This event is going to be a lot of fun and instead of having to fly out to SF to eat at A16, we are bringing A16 to you. You will be able to try food that we do not normally make and enjoy the great pizza of A16 in your own home town," Donato said of the special event. Reservations can be made at 303.442.3003.
