Gather, new café and lounge, set to open in the Golden Triangle under the direction of ChoLon chef Lon Symensma, has tapped chef Deanna Scimio for its pastry program.
Gather, housed under the same roof as Galvanize, a Denver-based digital startup hub, will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and will dish out breakfast, including fresh pastries - scones, muffins, and more- baked in-house by chef Scimio who was most recently serving as an instructor at Cook Street School of Culinary Arts.
A native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Scimio arrived in Colorado to attend college at the University of Colorado. After a year and a half in school and a job at Alfalfa where she fell in love with making chocolate mousse, Scimio decided to pursue her passion for pastries.
Scimio attended the Culinary School of the Rockies (now renamed Escoffier- School of Culinary Arts), where she later served as an instructor in the pastry program. In the last 16 years, Scimio baked and crafted pastries in many places from Provence, France to Vail, Colorado. In 2006, she joined the Frasca Food and Wine team, leading the pastry program at the acclaimed Boulder restaurant. Scimio also created desserts for Fruition, Masterpiece Deli, and Table 6.
Gather will open its doors on Monday, January 7, 2013 with the coffee program and limited food and will launch its full menu on January 14.
