Pastry chef ?Yasmin Lozada-Hissom makes some damn good desserts at Olivéa and Duo, and her popsicles at Spuntino are certainly gourmet. We've all (James Beard Foundation included) been successfully wooed by her sugary ways, and she's about to seduce us more when she reopens Spuntino's doors as a co-owner. Lozado-Hissom and her chef husband John Broening, along with Spuntino co-owner Dorina Miller, will reopen the Italian café on March 20th. Hissom tells Eater that she'll continue making gelato and popsicles, but she'll revamp the pastry and dessert selection. Broening, who heads the kitchens at Duo and Olivéa, will roll out a small Italian menu featuring an assortment of bistro offerings like charcuterie, cheese and house-made pastas. He also tells us that he recently recruited some hot talent out of the Bay Area, which he'll announce in coming weeks.
