Apparently North Carolina is the ultimate expansion destination for breweries right now. New Belgium Brewery out of Ft. Collins will open a second brewery in Ashville, Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. out of Chico, CA., will expand with a second brewery in Mills River, and now, Oskar Blues Brewery out of Lyons will build a second brewery/restautant/music venue in downtown Brevard. Oskar Blues founder Dale Katechis says he's been mountain biking in Brevard, a town similar to Lyons, for years. “We’ve looked at the options of growing our Colorado based brewing to the next level and the thought the idea of opening another small, intimate restaurant and brewery on a grassroots level sounds like a lot more fun.”
In Colorado, the brewery currently operates two brewpubs, a fast-casual eatery, a catering company, the Hops and Heifers Farm and the Bonewagon food truck. In other expansion plans, Katechis started hunting for another brewpub location this past March. He's eyeing Denver, Boulder, Longmont and Ft. Collins. Needless to say, business is going well.
