Feast your eyes on Sassafras American Eatery, Jefferson Park's new southern breakfast and lunch joint. As first reported by Westword at the beginning of the month, Sassafras quietly opened towards the end of May in the old Victorian house where Nanna's Teas operated until it headed to southeast Denver last April. Chef Colin Mallet, who hails from Louisiana, has created a menu packed with southern favorites like griddle cakes, shrimp and grits, fried green tomatoes, catfish and po boys. Hours: 6:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. Saturday & Sunday.
