Denver Has Chicago Critic Phil Vettel 'Jonesing' For Little Man Ice Cream and More

"I never thought of Denver as much of a foodie destination," admits Phil Vettel, Chicago Tribune food critic. But, after a trip to Denver a couple months ago, Vettel writes that a few places have him eager to return. Vettel visited Wynkoop Brewing Co., Colt & Gray, ChoLon, Linger, Green Russell and the Cruise Room Martini Bar inside the Oxford Hotel. Oh, and Little Man Ice Cream, which apparently made quite the impression: "I'm jonesing for some banana-pudding ice cream right now," Vettel writes.

In all honesty, though, Vettel had more fun drinking in Denver: "There is no shortage of drinking options in Denver, whose cocktail scene arguably surpasses its dining scene. Among the irresistible choices is Green Russell, a LoDo spot below street level (does that make it LoLoDo?)." He also took a fancy to the Cruise Room Martini Bar: "The single room is awash in art deco design, its decor apparently taken from an actual salon on the original Queen Mary. The line of booths reminds me more of an ice-cream parlor than a bar. But, awash in rose-colored lighting and staffed by friendly servers, this is a great place to grab a drink."
