When photos of Uncle hit the web last week, the Eater universe gasped a little bit. It looks strikingly similar to chef/restaurateur David Chang's Momofuku Noodle Bar in New York City, which is what Uncle's chef/owner Tommy Lee was going for when he designed the restaurant. After a week of soft openings and battling Momofuku "rip-off" attacks, Uncle quietly opened to the public over the weekend. The restaurant took a day off yesterday for plumbing work, but as of today, Lee will open doors at 5 p.m., with regular hours moving forward. With a menu of small dishes, steamed buns, sesame pancakes and noodle bowls, Lee says his dinner-only menu may evolve with late night options in the future.
