Amerigo Delicatus Restaurant & Market opens today at 2449 Larimer St., a space that used to be occupied by Bamboo Hut. Chef/owner Iain Chisholm has created a space that functions as a grab-and-go Italian deli/market for breakfast and lunch crowds, but flips into a 20-seat restaurant during evening hours. As noted by Cafe Society editor Lori Midson earlier this week, Amerigo's offerings are "humble, inexpensive (nothing on the small board is more than $15), ample and damn good." Midson was impressed too: "Everything from the crisp risotto frito to the braised pork cheeks to the cannoli exposed sublimely harmonized flavors suited to an everyday restaurant." While the restaurant will have scaled back hours for today's opening, guests can expect regular hours moving forward. Note to early morning coffee-lovers: Amerigo will offer a free doughnut every morning with the purchase of a 12 oz. coffee, while supplies last. Other deals include "Cheap Date Night Tuesdays" and standard happy hour specials Tuesday-Saturday.
