Central Bistro and Bar, a concept from Isiah Salazar, has now been in business for just under a month. With a new brunch service and one of the hottest patios in Denver, executive chef Lance Barto and Salazar have introduced the city to their idea of fine food without pretense. So what do diners have to say? Reviews have been slow to surface, but social media channels are buzzing. Here now, the early word on Central Bistro and Bar.

The Bad News: Disappointed Cafe Society commenter: "Looks like the $26 rule didn't pan out. And yes, that decor is off. I'm sorry, but how that goes with the menu and what you were selling when you announced the direction of the restaurant in February... beats me." [Cafe Society]

More Bad News: Unimpressed Eater commenter: "This place looks like Smashburger." [-EDen-]

The Optimistic New: Skeptical Yelper: "I was a bit cynical coming to this restaurant, does Denver need another 'farm to table' restaurant? I was also somewhat put off by the smallish menu, although this is understandable given that they've just opened. However I was really impressed by the freshness, and creative yet sensible presentations of the dishes which my wife and I ordered... This is not just a restaurant in a hip spot, it also seems to have the cooking chops." [sic] [Yelp]

The Good News: Wing-loving Yelper: "Loved this place! Had a lovely meal on the patio with a girl friend. The service was wonderful, and the scallops were some of the best I've ever had! The confit chicken wings from the bar menu were amazing...and I never eat wings. Wines were flawless. The Nutella waffle was pretty heavy, but all flavors complimented each other well. Will prob just get a scoop of salted pretzel ice cream next time. Delish! Can't wait to go back and have a date night with my hubby here!" [Yelp]

More Good News: Happy Facebook dad: "It's been a very long time since I have taken my wife and kids to a restaurant and everybody loved it. Everything was totally delicious and the service was great. Highly recommend this restaurant!" [Facebook]

The Great News: The repeat business Facebook fan: "I had the best brunch last Sunday I can't wait to come in today and explore another amazing dish by Chef!" [Facebook]

The Ultimate Shill: 303 Magazine: "Quaint and classy, Central seems to take its theme from 'old town' America and mix it with vintage sophistication. Made with recycled materials, it posses a fresh atmosphere that is perfect for an after work get-together or a girls night out. The Highlands newest addition to its ever-growing neighborhood proves to be a must see. Central Bistro and Bar has the food, décor and location to impress and keep people coming back. This restaurant will soon become one of the LoHi’s most popular destinations, where patrons can unwind and take pleasure in the new All-American classics. [303]
