Critic William Porter of The Denver Post gives Vietnam Grill (1015 S. Federal Blvd.) his stamp of approval in today's review, awarding the restaurant with three stars. "From the outside, Vietnam Grill isn't much to look at. Truth to tell, the little restaurant housed in a shopping strip on South Federal Boulevard has one of the less promising front doors on the Denver dining scene. But get past that, literally and figuratively. This gem of a restaurant features some of the best Vietnamese food in Colorado. [DP]
THE ELSEWHERE: Edie Richardson of 5280 writes that frozen yogurt from Ba-nom-a-nom food truck is some of the best guilt-free, "love at first spoonful" fro-yo out of Ft. Collins. [5280]
Denver Post food editor Kristen Browning-Blas shares her observations after visiting Ace, including "don't miss" tips: "The housemade sodas ($3.50), especially the ginger and the cola. And we slathered everything with the crispy chile sauce that sits in a jar on each table." [DP]
THE BLOGS: Denveater and Denver on a Spit offer a joint review of Richard Sandoval's al Lado, which just opened last week. DOAS: "I think this urban, young area is perfect for a simple, modern tapas bar. I don't doubt that it will be hopping from day one." [Denveater/DOSA]
