Global chef/restaurateur Richard Sandoval will debut al Lado latin wine and tapas bar next week on Friday, August 17th, next to his restaurant Zengo along Riverfront Park. Sandoval's crew has been working at fast-pace to ready the restaurant for this week's soft openings, ensuring the bar is ready to entertain guests in each of its 70 seats. So why a wine bar? "Al Lado is my homage to a new generation of Latin winemakers," Sandoval says, "and the thoughtful cuisine that their evolving culture – and viticulture – inspires.”
With various seating accomodations, including a bar, a communal table, a patio and lounge seating, Sandoval wanted to create a space where Latin American wines and tapas could work together for various siutations — whether it's happy hour, a business meeting, a date or late-night sipping. And as for food, Thrillist shares (food porn included) that the tapas menu includes bites "like baby squid/ blood orange, and carnivorous choices like filet mignon skewers aside Cabrales cheese sauce/ merguez sausage and short rib-stuffed piquillos." Also of note, al Lado will launch an exclusive wine club that includes a monthly hand-selected bottle of wine, which can be stored in a member's personal al wine locker. Club members will also receive complimentary invites to al Lado wine tastings and special discounts.
