Bobby Stuckey, a master sommelier and co-owner at Frasca Food and Wine in Boulder, is a fan of the bubbles. Eater asked Stuckey to share his thoughts on when he likes to drink champagne and when the rest of us should do the same. Here's what Stuckey said.
Champagne is something that has been major part of my career and I am sure I can predict that it will remain that way. While we always in the United States try to think of a special occasion to pop a bottle of bubbles, I am most impressed with how the people of Northern Italy treat and understand champagne. It is interesting Northern Italians drink more great champagne then anyone. It is not uncommon to be in a small bar, which is a coffee shop, and see in the fridge a small well-currated champagne selection, more than you may see here in some of you favorite restaurants. It is one of the best ways to start your evening off and not just a special occasion. For Northern Italians it is quite a special part of any evening and not just a special evening. I truly wish we had more of that.
