The beverage programs at Sushi Den and Izakaya Den just got revamped, with saké in the spotlight. Sushi Den has a new saké list with a tasting chart from sweetest to driest sakés that is sorted by region and includes pairing suggestions. At Izakaya Den, guests can now sample three rotating saké selections with the Bamboo Picnic flight. Both restaurants are offering expanded cocktail menus that include saké cocktails, too.
At Sushi Den, chef/owner Toshi Kizaki has curated one of the top sake lists in town, with more than 30 selections. The new sake list suggests pairings like Junmai saké— full, weighty and with good acidity— to pair with Sushi Den's signature Aburi selections.
The beverage list also has an updated list of more than 50 premium white and red wine selections, as well as new signature Den cocktails. Try the Lost In Translation with Boca Loca, Moonstone Asian Pear saké, lychee shrub, strawberries, and fresh lemon juice; or sip on the Blood Orange Horizon that blends house-made jalapeno simple syrup and blood orange puree with Absolut Mandarin, St. Germaine, lemon juice, and soda. For more details, visit sushiden.net.
Pull up to the Red Bar on the first floor of Izakaya Den for a Bamboo Picnic saké flight: three premium sake pours served chilled with a side of Kimpira for $20. The varied saké selections include Sayuri, a Nigori (or unfiltered) saké, Umenishiki, a high grade saké with a delicate and fruitful finish and The Chokaisan, an even higher grade saké with a light, floral flavor. The flight is presented in a traditional wooden Japanese box, dressed with a bamboo leaf. For more information, visit izakayaden.net.
