Denver's mobile food businesses experience a lull in the winter, some of them taking extended breaks through the holidays and colder months. Some of them will set up at holiday markets and other events, and some of them will only offer private catering. The bravest trucks will bundle up and battle the cold. Here's the skinny on who's hibernating, and who's still hitting the streets.
Kassia's Pasta Farm begins its hibernation this week, putting the trusty pasta bike Roberto to rest until January 1. The company will keep slinging pasta at various holiday markets, including the Colorado Springs Sugar Plum Food & Gift Mart this weekend, and the Denver Handmade Homemade Market on December 14 and 15. The company will continue accepting orders at kassiapasta@gmail.com during hibernation.
Quiero Arepas will go on hiatus from December 20 through the end of the year. It will rev back up in 2014 at a variety of breweries and other venues. Check out the schedule here.
Manna From Heaven is on autumn break until December 4. It will make appearances at the First Friday Art Walk on Santa Fe and 7th on December 6 and the REI Food Truck Row Party on December 8 before it goes in Christmas break through the end of the year. The truck will get back up and running again for the January 3 First Friday Art Walk.
The Denver Cupcake Truck is available year-round for private events and orders. The company is still taking Thanksgiving orders for pies, rolls, and turkey day-themed cupcakes. Check out the menu here.
Steuben's Food Truck is done serving for the season, and will hit the streets again in the spring. Stay tuned about the truck's whereabouts on its Facebook page.
Basic Kneads Pizza plans to battle the cold this winter with a packed brewery schedule. Find the truck at Epic Brewing on Tuesdays, Great Divide on Wednesdays and Fridays, Denver Beer Co. on Thursdays, Prost Brewing on Saturdays, and Golden's Mountain Toad Brewing on Sundays. Big Kiwi Eats is proudly always open. Follow the truck on Facebook for its current location.
