RINO— On its Facebook page, Amerigo Delicatus announced yesterday that its sister concept is under way. The casual RiNo restaurant will open a gallery and coffee house in the next few months. SOUTHWEST— On Friday, December 13 from 2 to 9 p.m., the Ugly Sweater returns at Wit's End Brewing Company. The brewery, located at 2505 W 2nd Avenue, will raffle door prizes for those wearing an ugly sweater as well as a special prize for the best (or worst?) ugly sweater to be chosen at 7 p.m. Pride of Philly will be on site serving cheese steaks sandwiches. Friday will be the only day that Wit's End will sell the Ugly Sweater brew to go. [Eaterwire]

HIGHLANDS— While independent restaurants continue to pop in the hood, chains are planting roots here too. On Wednesday, December 18, Panera will open its new location at 3545 W. 38th Avenue. To celebrate the grand opening of the 4,200 square foot bakery, beginning at 6 a.m., the first 1,000 guests will receive a free Panera Bread coffee tumbler with free brewed coffee refills through January 15, 2014.
