The Universal Parts Ways With Chef Gray

The Universal, the popular North Denver restaurant known for its Southern fare has parted ways with chef Seth Gray, the Denver Post reported. A source told the Denver Post's restaurant critic Bill Porter that Gray had been let go by the restaurants owners, Steven Sharp and Kourtnie Ray Harris.

"I've never felt so used in my life," chef Gray was quoted saying. The chef said that it ended badly and that part of the part of the dispute was over his salary which only reached $24,000 per year. Gray got aggravated when he wanted to retrieve his recipe book and was told it had already been copied. For their part, the owners praised Gray's cooking skill but explained that letting him go was a business decision.
