Yesterday, February 25, Patxi's Pizza, a San Francisco-based pizzeria, opened a second Denver location in Cherry Creek North at 185 Steele Street in the former Waterworks space.
The 80-seat dining room includes chrome lighting fixtures, exposed brick walls, and reclaimed wood banquettes. There is a pick-up window where guests can watch as their pizzas and small plates are being prepared and a 10-seat stone-topped bar for a more casual dining experience. This spring, guests will be able to dine on the 20-seat patio that will feature a permanent awning and heat lamps, which will be open as often as possible, weather permitting.
Patxi's menu features several pizzas and an array of salads and small plates. The pizza restaurant is known for its flagship Chicago-style stuffed pizza: a deep dish pizza with a layer of crust on the bottom, followed by toppings and cheese, all covered by another thin layer of dough, and topped with homemade sauce. There is a thin crust pizza as well as a create your own pizza option, where guests can create their own pizza with myriad fresh toppings, four styles of mozzarella and over 30 different meat and veggie toppings. Many of the pizzas are available in whole-wheat and gluten free options.
In lieu of dessert, Patxi's offers honey for the "bones" or crust of the pizza—the perfect way to enjoy those last remnants of crust after the meal. Guests can also enjoy fresh salads and beverages including a full bar.
