Highlands Square Is Changing: Anthony's Pizza Shuttered

New, 10 comments

The Highlands Square, a vibrant retail area centered around the intersection of 32nd and Lowell, is going through a period of transformation. The latest change involves the closure of Anthony's Pizza and Pasta, a dine-in and delivery pizza joint which is part of a larger local chain. Anthony's, which was serving NY-style pizza by the slice for lunch and dinner seven days a week, was located at 3420 W. 32nd Avenue. The official reason for the closure is consolidation of locations.

The Anthony's space is only a block away from Common Grounds, a coffee shop that has been part of the neighborhood for twenty years and recently announced its departure. Last week, Ink! Coffee, a local chain coffeehouse, announced that it signed a lease for the Common Grounds space. Also in the vicinity is the former Heidi's Deli location which is currently undergoing a transformation of its own. Matador, a tex-Mex restaurant based in Seattle, will occupy that corner. The neighborhood is also looking forward to seeing what will happen in the former Venue Bistro space, a small but prime piece of real estate that has been sitting vacant since November.
