Last night beer lovers swooned at Falling Rock Tap House, where more than 100 Colorado beers were available on tap and in firkins at the opening ceremony of Colorado Craft Beer Week. That's the most Colorado beer that's ever been on tap at one venue.
From now until March 24, Colorado Brewers Guild member breweries will celebrate the state's craft beer at venues all around Colorado. This statewide fest features beer dinners, special tappings, theme parties, tastings, tours and educational events. Here is a sample of what you should try.
Beer dinners: Jay's Bistro in Fort Collins will host a beer vs. wine dinner tonight at 6 p.m. Meanwhile, five Colorado breweries will collaborate for a feast at The Pourhouse in Longmont, Denver's Freshcraft will serve a dinner that features a different Colorado beer at every course, and Great Divide and Prost are combining for a meal at The Coral Room. There are certainly more to choose from.
Perhaps the most anticipated event this week is Left Hand Brewing's Hops & Handrails Beer Fest & Rail Jam on March 23 in Longmont. This new winter event will feature 23 of Colorado's finest craft breweries alongside a 25-foot high ski ramp at the brewery.
Then there are the parties! Star Bar will host two: one showcasing the forerunning breweries of Colorado called Legends & Rarities and one featuring taps from the new craft breweries in the state called New Kinds on the Block. Breckenridge Colorado Craft will celebrate cask ale with the That's Firkin Awesome.
That's just a small sample of some of the events during Colorado Craft Beer Week. Visit cobeerweek.com for the complete lineup, and follow @COCraftBeerWeek on Twitter for updates.
