Each spring since 1997, Jax Fish House has celebrated the oyster throughout the month of March with eating competitions and special food and drink offerings. Each of the Jax restaurants partnered with a charitable organization and, while celebrating the oyster for a month, they raised awareness and funds for the respective charity.. This year, Jax is taking the oyster feast to new heights in a new venue with High West Oyster Fest at the Boulder Theater.
Fans of oysters will gather at the theater to snack on fresh oysters, sip Odell Emersum Oyster Stout (don't worry, other beverages will also be available), and partake in the annual Oyster Eating Contest all to the tunes of local funk phenomenon Juno What? A new addition to Jax's festivities this year is an Oyster Shucking Competition featuring the fastest shuckers from the finest oyster bars across the globe.
The charitable partner for this event is Veterans Expeditions, a Colorado based non-profit which uses wilderness challenges to connect veterans, build camaraderie, and raise awareness. Veterans Expeditions' work supports the reintegration of veterans into society and empowers them to overcome the challenges that many face following military service. Proceeds from the event will benefit this group.
High West Oyster Fest will take place on April 2, starting at 6 p.m. and tickets are on sale now for $29.50 at the box office or online at bouldertheater.com. A limited amount of VIP and $25 general admission tickets are also available for purchase at all three Jax locations.
