Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, an Austin-based cinema and eatery, will open its first Colorado location on March 25 and there is more in store than an extensive food menu and a great selection of beer - 32 Colorado beers on tap and another 32 beers in bottles and cans are available. The seven-screen theater is served by Glass Half Full, a full service bar that made cocktails a priority. The bar will pour locally distilled spirits from companies like Stranahan's Colorado Whiskey and Leopold Bros, and will feature a seasonal cocktail menu curated by beverage director Bill Norris.
The aim is to please all tastes and palates and cut through the divisive barrier between cocktails and beer. "With the signature drinks at Glass Half Full, we're trying to bridge the gap between the beer drinker and the cocktail drinker," says Mr. Norris. "Local beer like Left Hand Milk Stout finds its way into cocktails, and beer components like hops and malt find their way into classic drinks like daiquiris and gimlets," he adds.
Among the most attractive cocktails on the menu is the Hopped Gimlet, a drink that combines vodka or gin with housemade hopped lime cordial, the Half & Half, a combination of Left Hand Milk Stout and Odell 90 Shilling Ale, and El Rascal, made with Reposado Tequila, fresh orange, White Rascal reduction, salt, orange bitters, and soda.
In addition to being an attractive movie theater, Alamo Drafthouse Cinema aims to be a great date night location where guests can come early for a drink before the movie or where they can only come for the food and drinks- movie viewing is not mandatory. Shoppers in need of a break at the Aspen Grove Shopping Center can also stop in for lunch, a drink, or a bite. Alamo Drafthouse Cinema will be open between 11 a.m. and midnight, seven days a week.
