Aleece Gallagher, a Basalt-based pastry chef, was named Executive Pastry Chef at the Hotel Jerome in Aspen. Gallagher, who went to pastry school in Seattle, most recently co-owned of Basalt's now-closed Midland Bakery Co. At the Hotel Jerome, Gallagher will oversee the pastry department emphasizing nostalgic comfort desserts, baking all breads in-house, and nurturing the hotel's new cake division for weddings, birthdays, and other special occasions.
