The Hawt Dog and Sausage Eatery, a casual Cherry Creek restaurant that opened in January 2012, has unwillingly closed its doors. The hot dog house served sausages which ranged from spicy andouille and hot Italian pork to Santa Fe turkey sausage and the Avalanche ale pork brat, as well as Hebrew National all-beef dogs.
The joint, located at Second Avenue and St. Paul, was seized by the State of Colorado for non-payment of taxes, including sales taxes and wage withholdings. There are several notices posted on the door and they include a notice of public sale and a warrant for distraint. When the restaurant first opened, the plan was for this Cherry Creek outpost to be the first of many sister-restaurants that the same ownership group launched in Colorado.
