This weekend, the 4th Annual Avery SourFest, a sold-out event, gathered about 400 lucky beer lovers, the Denver Post reported. The featured beers ranged from a 3.5 percent alcohol-by-volume Berliner Weisse to an 11.5 percent ABV blond sour aged on bourbon barrels. The star beer was Crooked Stave's Waelz Blood, a version of the sought-after Persica sour golden ale aged in New Belgium barrels with Colorado peaches and hibiscus. [DP]
