K J Wood Distillers will open the doors to a craft distillery in the heart of Berthoud, a small farming town 40 miles north of Denver. This small batch distillery plans to introduce a Bavarian-style gin and a blue corn white whiskey to the growing Colorado craft distilled spirits market.
The goal of K J Wood Distillers is to source 90% + of its ingredients from with 100 miles of the distillery within two years. Plans to expand the offerings at the distillery include featuring a blue corn bourbon and a single malt whiskey.
The distillery will be accompanied by a speakeasy-style tasting room, which will be attached directly to the production facility. The tasting room will be open Thursday through Saturday from 3 to 8 p.m., with holidays excepted. On Saturdays, guests will need to source a password and/or special ticket from local retail outlets and City Star Brewing, a craft brewery located one block from the distillery, to gain access to the tasting room.
K John Wood, proprietor, hopes that his new venture will encourage local business, quality small town life, and produce a fine high-end batch of spirits. It is his belief that the finest moments in life are often found in quiet reflection in the presence of a majestic place like Berthoud.
The grand opening for K J Wood Distillers is planned for July 27.
