Back in February, 5280 Magazine food editor Amanda Faison announced that she was searching for the magazine's new restaurant critic.
Yesterday, the magazine announced that it hired Stacey Brugeman to fill that position. Brugeman is a seasoned food writer who served as a research editor at FOOD & WINE Magazine and, more recently, as the food editor if the now defunct Denver Magazine. Her work has been published in Travel + Leisure, Men's Journal, and the Denver Post, among others.
Brugeman's appointment comes with a big change in the star rating system of the reviews: a maximum of five stars will be up for grabs, one more than the previous four available. More stars should better encompass the greater range of reviewable concepts from pizza parlors and taco joints to white tablecloth James Beard award winning establishments. The first review penned by Brugeman under this new rating system will appear in the July issue of 5280 Magazine.
