Coohills, the French-influenced LoDo restaurant, added Noah Heaney to its staff behind the bar. Heaney is a long-time and well-regarded industry professional who worked as beverage director for the Big Red F group, shaken and stirred at the Bitter Bar, and most recently led the strong cocktail program at Harold's and the Bayonet Room in Longmont. In his new role in Denver, he promises some significant changes in the bar program.
In the meantime, if you are searching for your favorite bartenders, don't look for Anika Zappe behind the stick at Punch Bowl Social anymore. Zappe has served as bartender and beverage director at the Baker joint as well as Le Grand Bistro, but she left the company at the end of May. Since then, she has guest bartended at PS Lounge, which happens to be where she got her start in the industry.
For those missing Chad Michael George from the landscape at Linger, there is hope. The bartender is now working just a block and a half down the street at Williams & Graham.
Outside of the bartending world, Gather, the Golden Triangle eatery and cafe, has parted ways with its star pastry chef Deanna Scimio. The dessert and pastry master who has worked at Frasca Food and Wine and Table 6 in the past was brought on from the opening of the joint six months ago. The demand for the crafted sweets, however, was not as high as expected. Savory breakfast and lunch items naturally became the draw for the cafe's general clientele and with that the need for Scimio's talents diminished. No news yet on where Scimio may be cooking next.
