Odd 13 Brewing, a new brewery located in Lafayette at 301 East Simpson Street, opened its doors on Saturday, August 3. The new business owned by husband and wife team Ryan and Kristin Scott unveiled a new tap room and and tapped six beers to the tune of live music and the hum of several food trucks that provided bites to guests throughout the day.

The owners, who live in Eerie, decided to open a brewery at the end of 2012 and fell in love with Lafayette. They signed a lease on a space that was a residence in its past life and started to plan their future there. The house was gutted and what reemerged is a comfortable space that takes advantage of some contemporary design elements - reuse of wood planks from tractor trailers and snow fences as well as exposed metal.

The beers are created by owner Ryan Scott in collaboration with Jacob Duensing of Upslope Brewing Company. Four brews, dubbed the Odd Squad, will be produced and sold as the brewery's mainstays. These are Doctor Cougar (a petite saison), Professor Hops (a Belgian IPA), Coal Miner's Cuzzin (an oatmeal stout) and Eric the Red (an IPA). Three of these were already being poured on Saturday; Professor Hops will follow shortly. Other beers will also be created on a seasonal and temporary basis.

Odd 13 Brewing is Lafayette's second brewery. Front Range Brewing Company opened its doors at the end of June at 400 West South Boulder Road.
