Vietnam Grill Shuttered on South Federal; A Vegetarian Restaurant Will Replace It Soon

It's sad news coming from South Federal: Vietnam Grill shuttered its doors for good and will soon be replaced by restaurant that specializes in vegetarian cuisine. Lotus Vegetarian Restaurant, with new owners to whom the business located at 1015 S. Federal Boulevard was sold, will open in the next month.

Over the years, the strip mall mom and pop Vietnamese eatery, earned many accolades around town and made many fans among Denver's diners. Last August, Bill Porter, restaurant reviewer for the Denver Post, awarded the casual restaurant three stars in a very positive review. Cafe Society listed the restaurant among the top 10 best places for pho and, in a separate article, Mark Antonation confessed that he was dazzled by "vibrant flavors and new textures without ever approaching pedantry" at Vietnam Grill.

The closure announcement came on the restaurant's Facebook page a couple of weeks back. Here's what it said:

Dear Vietnam Grill loyal customers. It was a tough decison but the right decison. It is time for our mother to take a break from her great cooking skills to recover her strength from 5 years of hard work in the kitchen. We have sold our family business to this great couple whom have passion for cooking. Our last day of business will be tomorrow (Saturday 8/31). We thank you so much for supporting and loving us over the last 5 years. We would love to say goodbye, if you could come by tomorrow. We will update you in the future if an opportunity comes to serve you again.
Please come support the new business owner (Lotus Vegetarian Restaurant). We will miss you dearly.
