Sneak Peek: Former Future Brewing Company Is Ready to Pour Its Beer on South Broadway

The wait is over: Former Future Brewing Company, the nano-brewery and tap room owned by James and Sarah Howat is finally ready to serve its beer. Located at 1290 South Broadway on a block that shares a sidewalk with Adelita's Cocina y Cantina and the soon-to-open Mary Empanada, this new-school-old-school brewhouse will have a soft opening tomorrow, Saturday February 1 from 6 to 10 p.m. A grand opening will follow on Saturday, February 8.

The 2700-square-foot space that accommodates up to 50 guests sitting and more standing was designed in collaboration with FinArt, a local design-build company that recently completed the space at Old Major and the remodel at Spuntino. Inside the narrow but deep space, guests will find high ceilings with exposed beams, brick walls, and a variety of reclaimed materials, including airplane wings that make up part of the bar.

The brewery will open serving a salted robust porter, an English IPA, a farm-house (read funky) IPA, and a Belgian wit. The schedule for the taproom is a work in progress. It will start with Friday from 2 to 10 p.m. and Saturday 12 to 10 p.m. and later work up to being open on Sunday and Thursday as the business finds its brewing capacity and demand balance.
