You'll notice some changes at LoHi SteakBar later this week, after coming under new ownership. Joe Pettenger and Taylor Drew, both Denver restaurant veterans, have taken over from chef Sean Kelly, who opened the neighborhood steak-and-burger concept in partnership with the Larimer Associates back in 2009.
Pettenger and Drew, who are lifelong friends, both gained experience working with Bonanno Concepts—Pettenger most recently served as general manager at Osteria Marco, and Drew has spent time in the kitchens of Osteria Marco, Russell’s Smokehouse, and Mizuna. Coming into LoHi SteakBar, Pettenger will oversee the front of house as general manager, and Drew is taking the reins as executive chef.
Looking to provide a modern steakhouse experience at an affordable price, Drew has reworked the menu, adding entrees like a harissa-rubbed lamb porterhouse and a vegetarian option in the roasted cauliflower with beluga lentils and onion soubise. The cocktail program will also see changes, with the new list leaning heavily on classics.
The restaurant is closed starting today until dinner service at 5 p.m. on Friday, October 10, while minor updates are also made to the interior.
