Earlier this week, the Lowry neighborhood got a newcasual neighborhood destination as Cafe Mercato opened its doors. The restaurant, little sister to Giancarlo Macchiarella's Locanda del Borgo features shareable Italian dishes and an expansive wine "library."
The space is modern and airy with a large open kitchen. The menu is inspired by Southern Italian cuisine and chef Macchiarella is committed to making many of his dishes in-house. A focus at Cafe Mercato is the pasta program, but wood-fired dishes as well as pizzas are also part of the offerings.
Cafe Mercato is open for dinner seven nights a week and for lunch on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
