The building at 1200 West 38th Avenue is currently taking shape as the second outpost of Denver Deep Dish. The original pizza spot housed inside the Bar Car on Colorado Boulevard stakes its claim on Chicago-style pies, but will expand on the menu for this new location. Set to soft open in mid-December with a grand opening sometime in January, the 38th and Kalamath Denver Deep Dish will open just a block from fast-casual burger concept Sunnyside Burger Bar.
Expect the signature deep-dish pizzas in a variety of topping combos, plus thin-crust versions. Additionally, diners can create custom slices or pies. There will also be appetizers like smoked chicken wings, and a selection of hot dogs and sandwiches—some of which to be modeled after the Italian subs from gone-but-not-forgotten Carbone's, according to owner Jason McGovern.
Those who dine in will be able to choose from a Colorado and Chicago-influenced drink list, including draft and can beers, and specialty cocktails. Also look for delivery and pickup options.
