The Lowry area just keeps growing; Monday saw an update for the forthcoming North County taqueria, and now there's another opening to report: Raw Roots Juice Bar & Cafe. Friday, November 21 was the first day in business for the health-conscious shop, at which you'll find an array of raw juices, elixirs, smoothies, raw nut milks, and wheatgrass, plus coffee, tea, espresso, and chef-created grab-and-go eats.

Using mostly organic and local ingredients, the offerings range from the green Popeye's Punch juice with spinach, broccoli, apple, orange, celery, and ginger, to a seasonal gingerbread smoothie made from banana, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, molasses, vanilla, flaxseed, almond milk, and vanilla protein.

Aspiring to educate customers on nutrition and making healthy choices, Raw Roots also facilitates cleanses and detoxes. The individually tailored programs include one-, three-, and five-day cleanses, as well as a 21-day signature detox, all of which are raw, organic, and vegan. You can either have the components juiced for you, or choose to do it at home following the recipes.

Raw Roots is located at 200 Quebec Street and is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
