Boulder burger joint Drakes Haus confirmed the news that some guests saw coming: the restaurant has closed.

Drakes Haus was located in the Baseline Crossing development off US 36 and Baseline Road. The restaurant opened in June 2013, and received a good amount of praise in its short 18 months of life. Drakes Haus served up crazy-unique Merlot-injected burgers topped with funky combinations like grilled Chorizo sausage, cherry fennel goat cheese, and arugula.

Per the notice posted on Facebook, when the owners had to relocate to Austin, Texas, they found it "extremely challenging to continue to grow the business as it deserves." So they sold it. In the same space, after a remodel, will open Basil Flats, a grilled flatbread sandwich and pizza restaurant that has ties with Noodles & Company founder, Aaron Kennedy.
