Ragin' Hog came to the Berkeley neighborhood in the latter part of 2013, but limited business hours made getting a taste of the Southern barbecue an elusive endeavor at times. But today the eatery reopens following completion of the kitchen—including the addition of a smoker—allowing owner Colleen Van Tuyl to operate five days a week.
The new hours will be Tuesday through Saturday from noon to 7 p.m., or until Van Tuyl sells out of the meaty goods that range from hot links to smoked chicken and pulled pork, accompanied by a variety of sauces: sweet, hot, and Memphis, Carolina, and Georgia styles.
Though the menu features sides like potato salad and coleslaw, soon Van Tuyl plans to add more items such as collard greens and cornbread, plus daily specials like gumbo and cheese grits or even crawfish boils down the line.
Ragin' Hog is located at 4361 Lowell Boulevard.
