Bruegger's Bagels, which celebrated its 31st birthday this week, opened its fourth bagel bakery in the Denver metro area this morning at 5:30 a.m. The new bakery is in Littleton at the Shops at Riverbend at 5350 South Santa Fe Drive. It's the first opening for franchisee Shawn Carter, who purchased most of the Colorado locations in 2012.
The new Bruegger's is in a 1,780-square-foot building that features indoor seating for 36, as well as an outdoor patio area for 28 guests, a full espresso bar and free Wi-Fi. The bakery will be open seven days a week from 5:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The Vermont-born Bruegger's now has locations in 26 states. The bakery-cafe chain serves bagels, a variety of cream cheeses, sandwiches, soups, and salads. In 2004, the company created the World's Largest Bagel at the New York State Fair in Syracuse, New York. It weighed in at 868 pounds and required 1,100 pounds of dough, 900 gallons of water and a bake time of 10 hours.
