Craft Brewers Conference: Not To Miss Events

The 31 annual Craft Brewers Conference hosted by the Brewers Association kicks off today in Denver and keeps going until April 11. While this is an industry-only event, there are many activities organized in conjunction with the conference festivities. Here are four to look for today and in the next three days.

Tonight, starting at 9 p.m. at Ernie's Bar & Pizza, join Just BrewHers, a Female Tap Takeover. The eatery and bar is hosting a 30 female brewer tap takeover. Lady brewers plan to be on-site to mingle and discuss their roles in the craft beer industry. Ernie's Bar & Pizza is donating a portion of the beer proceeds to Pink Boots Society, a non-profit organization providing scholarship opportunities to women working in the beer industry.

On Wednesday, April 9, LoHi's Ale House at Amato is turning over its 40 taps to Breckenridge Brewery and SweetWater Brewing Company of Atlanta, Ga. The takeover will start up at 4:20 p.m. (note that Breckenridge makes a 420 Extra Pale Ale) and will feature 'O'Tay,' a limited-release collaboration between the two breweries. Local breweries Upslope and Crooked Stave will also be offering some of their brews as part of the takeover.

On Thursday at 5 p.m., Dry Dock is hosting Hops For Heroes at its brewery. Support Colorado's Wounded Veterans with this event benefitting Operation TBI Freedom, a program of Rocky Mountain Human Services that provides comprehensive services to military, veterans, and their families. Tickets cost $25 person online, and $30 at the door. Price includes two Dry Dock beers, pizza, wings and other food, plus entry into the door prize drawing. Additional drink tokens available at the event for $5 each. The event will also include special military speakers.

The Post Brewing Company is hosting a Brewing With Friends three-course beer luncheon on Friday, April 11, in collaboration with Dogfish Head. The event will begin at 11:30 a.m., with a menu of elevated comfort food like crispy pork belly with a poached egg and char-grilled spareribs. Tickets cost $55 and include a brew tour.
