The Table to Tavern team —the restaurant group behind Boone's Tavern, Handlebar Tavern and Table 6—launched Atticus in February. The DU-area restaurant was to be a local hangout serving comfort food as well as Colorado-made beer and spirits. Did the team succeed with this new neighborhood eatery? Find out with the early word on Atticus.

The Laying It Down News: At the Denver Post, critic Ken Porter wasn't shy about identifying many of Atticus' robust dinner offerings, including house-smoked ruby trout, wild boar chili, herb-crusted quail and smoked short ribs. Porter also gave breakfast its due, noting the gouda croissant filled with cheese, scrambled eggs, and bacon or pork belly. [DP]

The Essential Brunch News: Atticus found its way on to Zagat Denver's list of eight essential Denver brunches. Atticus made the cut based on two factors: the first is the restaurant's décor, which includes a crackling fireplace and vintage knickknacks. The second is the fact that you can wash down comfortingly simple food with anything from cold-pressed juice to locally brewed root beer to a high-dollar glass of Barolo. [Zagat Denver]

Come On In, The Charcuterie's Fine!: The restaurant's charcuterie plate is making a splash on the Atticus Twitter feed. One diner who visited for restaurant week tweeted, 'I would like to swim in a pool filled with that charcuterie.' [Twitter]

The Found Religion News: Over on Yelp, reviews are mostly positive, with a few negative marks for spotty service and food that fell short of expectations. Regarding the Sunday brunch at Atticus, reviewer Diane W. declared 'Hallelujah brunch heaven,' in light of the ability to make reservations, easy parking, bottomless mimosas and the chorizo French toast. [Yelp]

The Big Hearted News: At Opentable, diners voted to award Atticus two accolades: great for brunch and neighborhood gem. One diner gave the restaurant four stars, noting its hospitality knows no bounds and that 'if a big heart counts for anything, Atticus has that.' [Opentable]

The Medal Of Valor News: It's nothing but love on the Atticus Facebook page, with eight five-star reviews. People are digging the neighborhood vibe of the restaurant as well as its cold-pressed juices, craft cocktails and French onion soup. One diner noted the bravery of Atticus to participate in Denver Restaurant Week just one week after opening. [Facebook]

The Paying It Back News: The Table To Tavern team behind Atticus, which also runs Table 6, Boone's Tavern and HandleBar Tavern, is taking one percent of total revenue from all locations and donating the money to local charities, Cafe Society said. [Cafe Society]

The Nailed It News: Atticus is located in the University of Denver neighborhood, and not surprisingly the school's newspaper, the Clairion, reviewed the restaurant. Assistant lifestyle editor Camilla Sterne is a fan of the Evans Avenue eatery's interior, noting 'Atticus captures the essence of our oxygen-deprived little cowtown with its westurban rusticity and pork-belly dominated menu.'
