Just a week ago, Old Major announced in a press release that rock star maitre d' Paul Attardi was leaving the LoHi restaurant after 12 months on the floor. One more key member of the Old Major front-of-the-house departed: beverage director Ryan Ravenscroft.
The sommelier, who holds a Level II certification was named to his position only six months ago, after the departure of bar manager Courtney Wilson and sommelier Bruce Conklin. Ravenscroft has worked at the restaurant since April 2013.
"We love Ryan and really enjoyed working with him. We sort of switched directions and we'll now have a general manager, assistant general manager, and bar manager there -- a more traditional structure -- something we haven't had for a while," owner Katie O'Shea said.
The newly appointed GM is sommelier August Poehls, who joined the restaurant four months ago, and April Martz is now assistant GM. "April has been with us since last May and she is ready to fill this position. She is young and energetic and has been a floor manager here for a little while. April and August work very well together," O'Shea explained. Bartender Mike McGill, one of the opening bartenders of the restaurant, is now leading the bar program.
