Por Wine House Now Open in Louisville

Billed as Louisville's first wine house, Por Wine House opened May 1 in a location behind Bittersweet Cafe at 836 Main Street. The downtown spot anticipated a quiet opening, but judging from its Facebook page, the community has been enthusiastically checking out what Por has to offer.

A tap tower provides for 11 by-the-glass wine options, and one beer. Among the vinos are El Rede Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon from The Rule, Gazerra Pinot Grigio and Truth or Consequences Rose. On the menu are also bottles of wine and a well-edited liquor list—think Leopold's gin and Colorado Straight Bourbon—in addition to a selection of tapas and small plates.

The indoor/outdoor setup has a rustic aesthetic, drawing heavily from the wooden beams framing the space. The patio showcases a large fireplace, and will be the site of live music in the future.
