Seventeen Oskar Blues employees were hospitalized as a result of chemical exposure at the Longmont restaurant and brewery on Sunday, the Daily Camera reported. The incident took place around 12:40 p.m. Customers and employees began complaining of respiratory issues. Other symptoms included eye irritation and vomiting.
"Our best guess is that this is a result of a defective 200 gallon water heater," the police said of the cause of the chemical leak. All the employees that were hospitalized have since been discharged. The restaurant will be closed until the source of the leak can be located and repaired.
