The Scoop on Table Top, Now Open In Park Hill

Once a desert for restaurants, Park Hill is becoming a hot spot. Table Top, a new American restaurant with a focus on beers opened its doors at 2230 Oneida Street in the last week to great reception. "We had 200 covers here on Saturday," said chef Brady Marcotte who came to the restaurant after working for chef Steve Redzikowski of Acorn/Oak at Fourteenth for two years.

In the space that can seat 82 guests inside and an additional 60 on two patios, the Kansas native chef — along with owners Sita Kedia, Dipesh Amin, and Josef Sykora — aims to bring the community a gathering space with elevated yet approachable food and a large beer selection.

The team at Table Top came together organically. After an arrangement with a Boulder-based chef fell through, Table Top scored a general manager, chef, and bar manager from the teams at Acorn and Oak at Fourteenth. "We are sort of the kids of Bryan [Dayton] and Steve [Redzikowski] who are now leaving to start a new place," said Marcotte. "It is nice to be here together and bring our knowledge and individual approach to this new restaurant," he added.

The open 2,400 square foot space that last housed a dance studio was transformed into a restaurant by one of the owners, Joseph Sykora, who has a background in furniture making. Every table top was custom-built by him, and so was the bar that seats ten, and the banquette that incorporates part of a car, a shout to the gas station that first occupied the building. The kitchen is partially exposed, a fireplace adds warmth to the interior, and an outdoor beer garden, encourages community dining.

On the dinner menu, chef Marcotte has starters like the beer batter pickle chips, small plates like the apple braised belly, and entrees like the farmer's pasta, made daily with seasonal vegetables. Prices are moderate ranging from $4 for the small bites to $18 for the butcher steak entree.

And if you want something more to look forward to, keep an eye out for the smokehouse that is being built on the patio where the chef plans to host Wednesday night pig roasts in just a few weeks.
