Visitors to the Denver Botanic Gardens on York Street have a new dining option in the Hive Garden Bistro, which opened this week. The alfresco spot, located next to the Monet Pool and with views of the new Chihuly exhibit, replaced the Monet Cafe. Now with an expanded deck and more menu options, the Hive is operated by Catering by Design.

The seasonal fare spans snacks, lunch and dinner, with produce from onsite Le Potager Garden and the Chatfield CSA used on the menu when possible. Look for items like a poached pear and roasted corn salad, sandwiches such as a grilled mahi-mahi or Mediterranean veggie, and a selection of burgers, sides, soups and a children's menu, in addition to soft-serve ice cream and rotating agua fresca flavors.

The Hive is located at 1007 York St. at the Denver Botanic Gardens and is open daily from 10:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. through Sept. 28. Late-fall hours will run 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and the eatery will be closed for winter.
