Tomorrow is Independence Day, when all things red, white and blue take over to celebrate the founding of America. Amid cookouts, fireworks and overall patriotic revelry, you may find yourself turning to local dining establishments for a bite or cocktail. Though there are some spots taking a vacation at this time, others will be ready and waiting with specials, events and more. Here's a roundup of restaurants to seek out on the Fourth of July.
LOHI— Take advantage of the $10 "Big Bang" boxcar burger and beer special at Central Bistro, which gets you a burger, fries and a 12-ounce Utica Club. There will also be live music and drink specials starting at 6 p.m., and reservations can be made for patio seats that will offer views of the fireworks at Coors Field.
GLENDALE— Head to Bruxie on the 4th for a one-day feature New England lobster sandwich, with live Maine lobsters flown in for the occasion. Other specials available through the weekend include a red, white and blue shake and a Vermont apple pie waffle sandwich.
LAFAYETTE— The Post Brewing Company is hosting an Independence Day Jubilee, complete with a backyard pig roast starting at 2 p.m. and served until the food runs out. Plates are $12 and can be enjoyed with fresh beer; the regular menu will also be available.
LOHI— Enjoy a barbecue starting at noon at Lola, featuring beef ribs barbacoa, pollo asada, pork shoulder and more. Live music starts at 2:30 p.m. and a taco-eating contest kicks off at 3:30 p.m. The coastal Mexican spot will keep normal dinner hours and menu after 5 p.m.
WEST HIGHLAND— Bring your four-legged friend to the Bark Bar for a backyard barbecue. The festivities include $1 off draft beers, wine and well drinks, plus free hot dogs.
RINO— Comida at the Source will be open for lunch and dinner. Enjoy a margarita while watching fireworks from the patio.
WESTMINSTER— Kachina Southwestern Grill has several events lined up through the holiday, starting with a Wild West brunch from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., where kids age 8 and under eat free. From 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. a pig roast on the patio will be underway, where you'll find $5 pork tacos. Following dinner, enjoy the City of Westminster fireworks display from the park behind the restaurant.
LODO— Stop by Freshcraft starting at 11 a.m. for features like a firecracker shrimp po'boy at lunch and barbecue platter including ribs, potato salad, corn on the cob and more at dinner. Wash your meal down with red, white and blue sangrias or enjoy tappings of the Bruery's Oude Tart and Epic Hop Syndrome.
LOHI— Linger will be open for the first time on Fourth of July, with happy hour running from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and dinner available from 5 p.m. onward. The rooftop patio will be an ideal spot to take in fireworks over the city. Sister restaurant Root Down will also be open on the 4th.
BOULDER— The Bitter Bar will be pouring on Independence Day, with cheese and charcuterie boards also available, in addition to pate and olives.
